Thank you for your interest in HurricaneTrack.com Premium Services. What we offer is much more than just a subscription service. If you join, you will become part of a growing community, made up of like-minded individuals and even families, who are part of something unique and innovative. We began the member area of the site in 2005 and have improved upon it every year since.

Without question, the single most popular feature that we offer is interactivity. Using a chat window next to the live streaming video, our members can actively and instantly post questions, comments or share their thoughts all while we can talk back to them directly! We do not offer this feature on the homepage. It is one of the key features of our Premium Services. Below is a screen shot of what the chat box looks like next to the Tahoe cam while it is streaming live video.

In addition, we began offering a live Hurricane Outlook and Discussion video Monday-Friday during the 2009 season. It will continue this year with new improvements, including exclusive looks at computer models, specialized tracking maps and much more. The live outlook video is produced at 2pm ET Monday-Friday from June 1 through early November. In the off-season, a weekly outlook is produced live each Saturday afternoon. This became a very popular feature for us in 2009 as again, you can interact via the live chat during the broadcast.

Here is a complete list of what our members will have exclusive access to in 2010:

Storm Case set up during Noel in 2007
  • Our innovative live streaming video from our vehicles as well as our remotely operated Storm Case cams.
  • Live chat feature that allows incredible interaction between you and us- as well as with other members. This is BY FAR our most popular feature. Ask us questions, post links, talk to us in near real time.
  • Spectacular 30 frame radar and satellite loops that allow our members to track trends over a much longer time period than traditional radar and satellite animations.
  • LIVE Hurricane Outlook and Discussion video (Monday through Friday) that details current conditions in the tropics with exclusive looks at the latest computer models and potential development areas in the Atlantic and East Pacific.
  • New and improved Java-based hurricane tracking maps with features exclusive to members.
  • Members' only message board/forum. After many requests over the years, we now offer a message board and forum for our members to access and disuss the tropics, our missions and stay up to date with each other.
What does the live streaming video look like?
Below are actual video feeds from our hurricane Ike mission. The video console on the left is the actual raw live feed from our Chevy Tahoe dash-cam. This is exactly what our subscribers were able to see during hurricane Ike as we drove around Galveston Island during the afternoon of September 12, 2008. The video console on the right is the raw video feed from our remote camera unit placed on Bermuda Beach- towards the west end of Galveston Island. My colleague, Mike Watkins, and I set up this camera unit around 9am local time that Friday- September 12. The camera operated perfectly while we went about our business of setting up additional units and our wind tower elsewhere on the island. Watch the videos for just a few minutes and I think you will be convinced that this is worth your support as a subscriber. If you cannot see the videos playing at all, you may need to update your Windows Media Player. To do so, visit Microsoft's web site for the latest player.

Your subscription also supports our field work, education efforts and local emergency management
With the support from our subscribers, we are able to provide access to our live weather data and video feeds to emergency management agencies and first responders. Tax dollars need to be spent wisely and we feel that if our efforts are supported by YOU, the least we can do is offer our content to those working behind the scenes in the affected communities. Our success during hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Wilma, Gustav and Ike are models of how we can integrate our live weather data and video system in to the ongoing efforts of a community when it comes under fire from a hurricane. If you work in emergency management or law enforcement, send us an email so that we may set things up to work with you and your community should a hurricane threaten landfall.

We also utilize the funding raised by our subscribers to visit schools and civic groups to talk about hurricanes and preparing for them. We never charge a fee to speak to educational interests or civic clubs. The more funding we can acquire, the more we can reach out to educate and inspire children and adults alike to be more knowledgeable about hurricanes and other severe weather.

Additionally, your subscription allows us to travel and set up our wind measuring equipment during hurricanes. We ALWAYS provide this live weather data to the public FREE OF CHARGE. Your support allows us to continue to do that. The premium content of our member area is above and beyond our traditional public service products found on the homepage of HurricaneTrack.com.
